Wonder, “a remarkable phenomenon”, is a word that to me that describes this wonderful area we live in. Many things influence my choosing a subject to paint. The wonder I feel in the landscape within those special moments in time when the light reveals something extraordinary is why I paint. Being aware of this wonder, then trying to capture that feeling when I see such subjects is my artistic journey.

Sandra Brugh Moore graduated from West Virginia University with BA in Art Education. She moved to Asheville many years ago wanting to learn how to painting the mountains. Now Sandra has teaches Landscape Watercolor Techniques classes the North Carolina Community College System. She paints on location with the local Asheville Area Plein Air Painters. Another local painting group she is involved with is Painting A Picturesque.

America where local artists recreate paintings from the past to promote preservation of our landscape through art. Painting on location, for Sandra, is challenging and vital to understanding the landscape in all its wonderful moods. “When I paint I want to instill a sense of peace in my work. I do not just copy what is before me. I move trees and mountains to achieve the design that pleases me and gives me that sense of peace.”

Her Meditative Designs are another aspect of her artistic journey. After a sudden change in her life she used her art to get through a very sad time. So she began adding repetitive (meditative) curvilinear pen and ink lines to her watercolor paintings. She lets her brushwork guide the design. This allows Sandra to create unique contemporary artwork. She shows her work at the Asheville Gallery of Art, 82 Patton Ave in Asheville NC, and at Trackside Studios, 375 Depot St in the River Arts District. Sandra has a son living in Portland Or. And a daughter residing in Asheville NC She is a Nana of two grandchildren living in a multigenerational home.
