Artist Statement

| Ann Vasilik, a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has lived in Asheville, North carolina since 1988. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Philadelphia College of Art. A popular workshop instructor, she has taught and painted extensively throughout the Southeast and in California, Hawaii and the Republic of the Philippines. Her commissioned works are in great demand and reproductions from her original paintings have gone all over the world. Locally, her art has supported numerous charities. Ann serves on the board of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina as the Western Director.
Control of spontaneity is one of the contradictions of watercolor for me. The transparency of the washes bringing solid objects to life is the other. Each painting strives to have something distinctive to say about my personal vision. Bold use of color and brush work with enhanced space and light achieve a heightened realism. |
