Artist Statement
In the mid 1980's Parrish taught herself to paint in an effort to express her delight at being on the Isle of Wight, a small island off the southern coast of England. She quickly became involved in three local art clubs, where her bold colors and loose style had not been seen before on this Victorian island. She participated in eight to twelve exhibitions a year, both juried and open, had three "One Women" shows, several shared shows, exhibited (juried) on the Mainland, and on the Continent, produced and sold her hand-painted note cards in local shops, and became well known for the successful Right Brain Drawing, Basic Watercolor, and Experimental Watercolor classes that she formulated and taught.

In the mid 1990's, she moved to New Zealand to study Maori Language and culture, and began teaching her classes at the local art clubs, along with painting, exhibiting, and selling in local galleries and at club exhibitions. She taught her classes at adult education in numerous schools, and was invited to be Guest Tutor in art clubs and continuing education classes around the Northern Island.

Parrish has exhibited in Australia, Canada, Germany, England and New Zealand, and her paintings reflect her deep love for color, her ability to paint in multiple styles, and her keen observation of the world around her.
