Artist Statement

| "I try to share the beauty of a particular place or moment in a way that will transport viewers to that spot so that they can experience much the same sights or feelings that moved me to stop and take it in."
Al retired in 2000 from a career in engineering, and currently resides in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He began painting in 1989 after formal training at the Baton Rouge Fine Arts Academy. Al has continued his studies in workshops by a number of nationally known artists. He works primarily in watercolor, but enjoys pastel and pen/ink as well. He is fascinated by light and it's resulting values; this effect is captured in many of his works. He is a member of the Art League of Henderson County, Watercolor Society of North Carolina, Southern Watercolor Society, and a signature member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society. |
