Ruth Ilg, an accomplished artist and photographer, is a native of Germany. She resides and works in Asheville, North Carolina, USA and on Lake Constance, Germany. Ms. Ilg has studied with many renowned artists in Europe and in the US, resulting in a continuing strong desire to explore a wide spectrum of techniques, styles, media, and themes. She is known for her meticulous watercolor, gouache & pastel botanicals, miniature oil landscapes & seascapes, vibrant mixed-media abstract paintings & collages, intricate geometric designs, luminous reverse glass paintings, whimsical acrylic cityscapes and masks, and also for her innovative encaustic paintings. Ms. Ilg has won numerous awards. Her work has been widely exhibited, and can be found in private and corporate collections around the world.

Artist Statement
“Although the inspiration for my work comes from many different sources, I am especially drawn to nature, music, poetry, and the inner world of dreams and emotions. Through the exploration of color, form and texture—whether representational or abstract—I hope to create a visual dialogue between the image and the viewer, and thereby building a bridge for communication and understanding.”
