Floyd Kemp


Floyd Kemp paints mainly still life subjects using acrylics as his medium. He is a native of Iowa and holds a BA in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa, an MA in Fine Arts from the State University of Iowa, and has done further graduate work in Fine Arts at Michigan State University.
Floyd taught High School Art in Iowa for 3 years and was a professor in the art department at Jackson Community College in Jackson, Michigan where he taught for 26 years. Since retirement, he has lived in Black Mountain, NC where he has continued to work as a studio artist.
His paintings are interpretations of common, everyday subjects rendered with color and line to lock a moment in time forever.
